Vintage 1960s Egmond Thunder 2 electric guitar, Made in Holland – Original
Vintage 1960s Egmond Thunder 2 electric guitar, Made in Holland – Original This is a very good example of an original Dutch-made Egmond Thunder 2 electric guitar. It is possibly one of the best examples I’ve seen. It oozes ‘60s charm and all the electric work well so you can enjoy the period vibe. The sound is a little thinner than you would get from a modern guitar, but we are talking about original pickups here. The neck is in good shape. It is very similar to the Vox guitars of the same era. The action is nice and low and the fingerboard is in good condition. The frets show very little sign of use. The headstock is extremely clean and retains the correct “Egmond” logo, together with the truss rod cover and the 6-inline tuners with the original buttons. The body is laminated and shows some lacquer checking in the 3-colour sunburst finish. There are a few nicks here and there but none are unsightly. The single laminate Mother of Pearl coloured scratch plate is correctly attached (no warping and no cracks). The chrome hardware and pickup covers are all clean. Usually, they have some small amount of surface pitting, but this guitar has clearly been well stored. It even retains the Tremolo bar which usually go missing. I love it. It’s going to be hard parting with this one!
