Olympia Musima German archtop guitar from 1950s
1950’s Olympia Musima German archtop guitar in good playing condition This 1950’s Olympia Musima German archtop guitar is a great player. It has a bright tone with plenty of projection. The years have been kind to this particular archtop. It’s in pretty good condition. The lacquer has some lovely aged cracking but nothing too striking. It DOES NOT have any nasty cracks and the top / bottom body binding is all in place. These GDR archtops were a very advanced design. If you look just above the neck heel, there is a hole with a square-ended bold. This is the neck adjustment screw. No need for an expensive stay at the luthier’s shop. You simply unscrew the bold and the neck comes off! The action on this guitar is also very good. It’s currently set at a shade over 3mm. The original 3-inline tuners have been replaced with suitable period single tuners so the guitar now holds tune. The frets and fingerboard are in good condition. Marks: There are a couple of small marks on the top right bout with some fixing holes showing for the original pick guard. On the guitar top, but underneath the tailpiece, there are some additional marks. They are shown in the images. Bottom line? If you’ve been looking for a very good 1950’s GDR archtop that you can start using immediately, then this Olympia Musima German archtop guitar is a good choice.
