Herrnsdorf Lux Model vintage jazz guitar Late 1950s

Herrnsdorf Lux Model vintage jazz guitar Late 1950s You don’t see these come up for sale very often. This thin-bodied scalloped-top archtop is built by a relatively small German maker called Herrnsdorf. It is all original but no longer has the pick guard (the fixing holes are evident) At around 4mm, the action is good for a vintage archtop. However, this design has the bolt-on neck. This makes neck angle adjustment a fairly simple process. So, you can easily reset the neck angle to suit your style. Overall, this Herrnsdorf Lux Model vintage jazz guitar is in excellent condition. The headstock is in good shape with just a small amount of lacquer chips at the top. The tuners are original and a couple of them have bent winders but they don’t affect use. They have typical surface corrosion. The neck is good. The back of the 7-piece laminated neck is in good shape. The bound rosewood fingerboard and frets are also in good condition. This guitar could do with a new nut. The top of the body is so good that it looks like it’s been refinished. However, I think it’s just in very good shape because the bottom of the guitar has some colour missing near the tail piece fixing. The back is as good as the front. It also has a scalloped edge shape. Someone has signed it in felt pen (top right bout). I could polish this out but have decided to leave it. The bridge and tail piece are original. The tailpiece is lovely as it has a beaten pewter style finish. The bindings and purfling are all attached correctly. I’ve re-strung this Herrnsdorf Lux Model vintage jazz guitar with a nice set of light gauge D’Addario’s. It sound fantastic and would grace any player / collectors home.
