Hand made in Japan B & M Classic Model by Sadao Yairi

Hand made in Japan B & M Classic Model by Sadao Yairi 1960s vintage Sadao Yairi Classical Guitar hand made in Japan for B & M of London This handmade guitar sounds amazing. The sound that it produces shows that these Yairi guitars deserve their reputation for sound and build quality. These S.Yairi classicals are now starting to be justifiably appreciated. He made good guitars under many names: Sada, S. Yairi, Sadao Yairi, Yairri Gakki. I’ve had a few of his B & M models. He made the “Artiste”, “Soloist”, “Classic” and the “Concert”. This particular model didn’t have his name on it in English, making it more unusual. The instrument produces a rich tone. It has a spruce top, and has Rosewood laminate back and sides. Sadao Yairi used the better laminate construction method of using three layers of tone woods. The idea was to increase strength but without sacrificing tone quality. There are no nasty splits to the body. There is a very small split to the upper left bout where it approaches the waist. It’s stable. The solid spruce top is structurally sound. You can see the fan-bracing pattern if you hold it up to the light at the right angle. It’s clear this is a beautifully made instrument. Even the top purfling is well matched and all intact. The Rosewood fingerboard (with nickel frets) is in very good shape and has 4 Mother of Pearl side dots. There is some play wear to the back and side of the neck. The neck is pretty straight. To the naked eye, there’s hardly any warp at the headstock end. The action is very good, at around 3mm. The sides and back of the body have a few very minor marks and scratches. To the lower edge, there is some damage. It is on the edge, but is not through to the body. The high quality laminate construction has prevented this from being an issue. It’s about 5cm long. The tuners are all original and work well. 650mm scale length, 50mm at the nut, 60mm at 12th fret. If you like quality guitars, but don’t want to pay for a 10/10 condition one, then this is a great buy. You can’t far wrong buy owning this B & M Classic Model by Sadao Yairi
