Early 60s Made in Japan Starway MJ-2L Teisco electric guitar Nice and original The Starway MJ-2L Teisco electric guitars were made in Japan in the early / mid 1960’s. Teisco later started to produce guitars in greater numbers, and of lesser quality. The Starway MJ-2L is one of their better guitars. The super-large head is what strikes you first. The period rocker switches are original and the chrome is excellent. It even retains the original bridge cover and tremolo bar. Both of these are not usually still with the guitar. The two chrome pickups work well. They each have their own Volume and Tone controls. The two rocker switches are selectors for each pickup. The Starway MJ-2L Teisco electric guitar was made from good quality wood. The Maple neck and headstock is bolted to the body. This guitar retains the original 6 in-line tuners with the original oval buttons. The “Starway” logo is still attached. The frets / fingerboard are in good condition. The fingerboard is decorated with the striking fret markers. The action is at a sensible height too. The body has very few marks. The two-tone sunburst finish is excellent. Overall, this Starway MJ-2L is a pleasure to play. It’s so good, it’s worth having in a collection. If it was good enough for Brian Eno, Roxy Music, on the “Another Green World” album, then I guess it’s a good one to have!
