Early 1960s Burns Sonic Bass All original Great condition
Early 1960s Burns Sonic Bass All original Great condition This is a very good original Burns Sonic Bass with a nice early Maple neck. I’m offering it a very sensible price. The Cherry Red and Black paint is entirely original. There are just a few chips in the paint and some lacquer checking on the back of the headstock leading down the back of the neck. (The long line that you see in the images in this area, is lacqer / paint cracking and not the wood) It’s a great little authentic British short-scale bass from 1961/1962. The scale is just 29.5” and it’s lightweight. It’s ideal for playing at gigs, or home practice. Collectors will be interested as it retains the original pots, wiring, Tri-Sonic pickups, Van Ghent tuners, switch and Aluminium control knobs. Even the pick guard is in good order and does not have any cracks! Unusually, this Burns Sonic Bass still has the bridge cover. The action is fine and there is room for adjustment at the bridge. The nut is the only thing that could do with changing. Some inventive soul has made a wood nut. It works but ought to be replaced really. The controls crackle a little but everything works fine. The top tuner is slightly bent but functions perfectly well. I’ve had a few of these early Burns guitars. The body on this one is lovely. The wood grain shows through nicely on the front. No case supplied.
