1920’s silver plate Hawkes & Son alto saxophone
1920’s silver plate Hawkes & Son alto saxophone, bears inscription "XX Century Hawks & Co. Makers, Denmnan Street, Piccadilly Circus, London” with original mouthpiece, hard case, strap, spare reeds, some pads and stand This is a High C pitch saxophone form the 1920’s. There are very few marks on the silver / silver plate . As far as I can see, there are no obvious dings either. As I’m not a saxophonist, I cannot vouch for how it plays. I’m selling it for a relatively inexpensive price with a few spare pads and it will be sold as if it needs renovation. The number is #924. I believe that this will suit a collector because all of the original items are included and because of the horn’s condition. The case has seen better days. It’s solid and the strap is fine. The catches work but the green velvet lining is coming away a little. The outer toluene has a few rips. This 1920’s silver plate Hawkes & Son alto saxophone is beautiful to look.
