Vintage 60’s Audition electric guitar, single gold foil pickup, Made in Japan

Teisco guitars had many brands. Audition was one of them and they produced budget guitars from the late 1950’s. This Audition Classic Single Pickup model has one gold foil covered pickup. It retains ALL of its original items (except it now has some shiny new D’Addario EXL115’s that have just been fitted)

The original tuners still retain their oval buttons. The neck is in excellent condition. The back of the neck is free from gouges and dings. The frets are good and the Rosewood fingerboard is in great order for a 50 year old guitar. I’ve seen worse on a 5 year old guitar!

The body is in good order. There are a few light scratches on the back and very few evidence of scratches on the front. The chrome on the whole guitar has pitting. This Audition retains the original Volume & Tone cream controls together with the pointers.

How does it sound?

Great. Just right for that 60’s vibe. The gold foil covered pickup still has plenty of power and the tremolo bar still works well. I’ve checked the springs under the bridge. They’re good. The controls don’t crackle as this guitar has had a full service.

So, if you’re after an authentic and all-original 1960s Japanese Vintage Audition made by Teisco, then you can’t go too far wrong with this one.  Well cared-for 1960’s budget guitars are pretty rare.
