Salvador Ibanez Parlour guitar with good action & original case C1898

Salvador Ibanez Parlour guitar with good action & original case C1898 This beautiful small body guitar was made at some point between 1898 and 1906 at the workshop of the renowned master luthier Salvador Ibanez, in Valencia. It was made around 120 years ago, but it retains a lovely tone and has very good action. These Salvador Ibanez guitars are now being bought by investors as they are representative of the finest guitars made in Spain at that time. The marquetry is exquisite. The multi-layered purfling and sound-hole decoration is a testament to the maker’s skills. But the real joy is in the playing of this guitar. It projects very well and has a lovely tone and plenty of resonance. Salvador Ibanez used the finest tone-woods available. The top is made from Spruce, The sides appear to be Mahogany and back is Brazilian Rosewood. The neck is made from Cedar. The tuners are high quality brass, with brass rollers and camel bone buttons. Camel bone was widely used at the time in high-quality furniture. The fingerboard has 18 frets with fine brass frets. The painted finger board shows some wear in the upper frets. The bridge is a thing of beauty. It appears to be made of Rosewood with Mother-of-Pearl inlays that were typical of Ibanez guitars at that time. This particular guitar is supplied with a period-correct leather fitted case with an end flap. The case is worn and the end-flap has come un-stitched as can be seen in the images. All of the pieces of the case will be supplied. Notes on condition. There is an extremely fine split in the right side of the lower bout. It’s about 6” long and is difficult to see. It does not affect the way this guitar plays. There’s no buzzing. So, rather than have it taken apart and glued, I have left it as it is. There are some marks from use but they can all be seen in the images. There are 3 scars on the back of the neck, low down near the heel (shown in the images). Length overall: 93cm Body length: 44.8cm Upper bout width: 23.2cm Lower bout width: 30.2cm Body depth at waist: 8.4cm Action at 12th: less than 2mm, with a good straight neck.
