Hofner Senator Blonde – Ex Paul Brett

Hofner Senator Blonde – Ex Paul Brett

This Hofner Senator Blond is an unusual one. It used to belong to Paul Brett, one of England’s most noted classic rock guitarists. It has a beautiful sound and great action. The bridge has been replaced, and the pick guard is not the original one as it seems a little narrower than the original. There used to be a pickup fitted, as the tell-tale screw-holes are evident in the side of the neck although you have to look hard to see them. The headstock is an unusual one too. Hofner used this style for the 450 model range (450-463) but this one is more elaborate. In fact, I can’t find another one like it. The neck is great and is just right for a Senator, with five triple-dot fret markers and a well looked-after rosewood fret board and frets. The guitar is mostly Maple. With a three-piece maple neck and a maple top, back and sides with very tidy bindings and neat purfling. The original “Hofner” name is still on the front of the body and the label simply states “Senator” with a model number 596. The body laquer has some light crazing but this doesn’t detract from the look and feel. It just gives the guitar patina. Simply put, this is a well sorted Hofner Senator that would grace anyone’s collection. It even comes with a very battered original case. It’s not pretty but is very authentic and keeps the guitar in good condition. This guitar is great value
