A lovely one-owner bass with loads of vibe, with the original pickups. It has a thick clear treble and deep low end.
The slim neck is very smooth and feels great up and down. The action is nice and low.
Straight maple neck, nice rosewood frets, nice thin neck.
This 1962 Hagstrom is in great condition. It has been a one-owner guitar. There are some minor cosmetic marks, as you would expect for a 54 year-old guitar. However, it seems to have survived very well having been with the same owner for the entire time.
The vinyl covering is good on the back but with one flaw where a new input plug has been added to the front and it protrudes slightly at the rear. There is a little creasing where the back vinyl joins the front in the region of the neck joint.
The plexi top is generally in good order with one exception. The original input plug is no longer there and it has been replaced with a small jack-plug. There has been attempt at a repair in the past and there is a small amount of glue in the area of the original jack.
The neck is good. The frets, fingerboard and nut are all good. The headstock is a nice clean example with the original Futurama transfer and original “Kings Neck” sticker to the back. The original enclosed tuners are all good. On the side closest to the logo, the laminate is slightly coming away.
Original pickups and bridge. There is some buzz from one of the switches. They all work though.
Overall, this is a nice playable example of the early Futurama.
I’ve seen plenty of red versions, but not many baby blue ones. Treat yourself to that old 60’s vibe.
