1950s Vintage Zenith Super Deluxe Cutaway archtop guitar signed by Ivor Mairants

1950s Vintage Zenith Super Deluxe Cutaway archtop guitar signed by Ivor Mairants

1950s Vintage Zenith Super Deluxe Cutaway archtop guitar signed by Ivor Mairants This Zenith Super Deluxe Cutaway archtop guitar was made in West Germany by Framus as a brand for the UK importers and distributors, “Boosey and Hawkes”. The noted jazz guitarist Ivor Mairants signed each model. The range was launched in 1957. There were three models, the 17, the 21, and the Super Deluxe model which was the “33”. After  around 1960, the Super Deluxe model had a truss rod fitted. No need for a truss rod on this one as the action is good. It’s probably had a neck re-set at some point as there is a circular raised area on the 13th fret where a luthier has probably accessed the neck joint. It’s raised, but still playable. The action is good. For a mid-range instrument, the Zenith Super Deluxe Cutaway archtop guitar has plenty of volume and a lovely mellow voice. It’s comfortable to play too as the neck is smooth and a low-profile C-shape. The cutaway, makes this a great jazz guitar. The body is in great shape. It’s 17 ½”  wide and has a small amount of very light lacquer crazing. There are NO SPLITS. The body, f-holes, neck and headstock are bound. A couple of minor items worth mentioning… The D string tuner pin is bent but works. In fact this guitar has the original tuners and they all work well. Also, the end strap pin is missing. There are some marks / pin holes where the fixings were for the pick guard. Supplied with the original canvas bag for authenticity. This Zenith Super Deluxe Cutaway archtop guitar is ideal for someone wanting a vintage guitar to play jazz on without breaking the bank. It’s strung up with new strings and ready to enjoy
